Blonde Hair Hack Using Kool-Aid

"Blonde's have more fun." At least that's what they say.  Being blonde is allot of fun. It is also allot of maintenance.

Blonde can go brassy and yellow real quick. Even if you're doing everything you're supposed to to maintain it. Most of the water that we use in the shower is filled with lots of minerals and other things that over time will deposit a yellowish tint to the hair.

Setting Goals To Achieve Success

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Its that time of year again. The end. Yup, 2016 is over.

Did you accomplish everything that you set out to do last year at this time?

I did for the first time that I can remember. I crossed off two huge goals this year. I only set two goals, well three if you include loosing the extra baby weight but honestly that has been on the list for 5 years so I am only counting new ones.

Why is it so hard to stick to your goals especially after we're so excited about creating them. Maybe it is not because we are lazy, or that we loose interest. I think the real reason is that we set goals without systems to help us accomplish these goals. Then with in a week we feel lost and unmotivated. We set ourselves up for failure.

Easy Homemade Coconut Milk All Over Cleanser

Happy Hump Day.
I hope you all had an amazing holiday.

Today I thought that I would share with you a post from my previous blog. This was one of the first post that I wrote and when I deactivated that blog a few months ago it had over 5,500 views. I decided since so many people were interested in it that I should share it again here.

It is completely unedited from the first time that I wrote it almost 5 years ago. I hope you enjoy. This is a great skin hydrating formula that you will love during these cold months. Since its main ingredient is coconut milk it makes it feel a little tropical. You feel like you've been taken away to a warm sunny island even if it's below freezing outside. Please feel free to leave comments below with your favorite homemade recipes for skin, body and hair care recipes.

Hi everyone for my first how to I am going to give you my recipe for a face and body wash using coconut milk.  I also used this on my 14 month old son as a hair and body wash since he has very sensitive skin. I do not like it on my hair although the recipe is an altered version of a "no poo" shampoo but I have been using this amazing wash on my face (with 2 other homemade products) for the last 2 months and my adult acne is gone.  It cost less that $2 to make a 2 week batch. I don't keep it longer since it has coconut milk but if you keep it in the fridge it may last longer.  It is super simple to make, here is what you need.

2 cup measuring cup
empty body wash or shampoo container

1cup coconut milk or cream (for a rich creamy wash use coconut cream from a can)
1/3 cup castile soap (any sent you like will do I prefer the lavender)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1tablespoon olive oil

Put all of your ingredients into your measuring cup and stir pour into empty bottle and give a good shake.  That's it you are all done making your luxuriously hydrating wash.  Every time you use your wash remember to shake the bottle since the oils will separate and concentrate at the bottom.

Don't forget to subscribe if you like me and want to see more!! XOXOX Hope

Save Your Skin During The Winter Weather

How true is that?! Just care about the people around you.

Hi everyone. It's November 1st. Already. Whew the year has flown by.

I hope you all had a great Halloween yesterday. We braved the rain and had a great family night.

Today I wanted to bring you two skincare tips to help your skin during the cold weather. Enjoy!! Please comment with any tips you have for saving your skin.

It's time to change our skin care.  The weather is turning chilly and cold. Soon we will be running the heaters and bundling up in our scarves and sweaters. So cuddly and warm.  However this can be a bit shocking to our skin after a nice warm summer. When all we needed a light moisturizer and some BB cream to head out the door. Now we find our selves with dry, red or flaky skin.

It is common this time of year for my friends to start ask me why they are breaking out and so dry all of a sudden.  I break out the most during the transition of seasons.

This is because our skin is adjusting to the changes just like the leaves on the trees. They also dry out and change this time of year. Add in the use of heaters and recycled air for the next 5 months, well your skin is going to need some extra loving care starting now.

Kid Approved Hidden Veggie Pumpkin Apple Muffins

It's Fall! I know, I know it's been Fall for awhile, but like everything else, I am just now getting my act together. Plus it rained all weekend.

So what's more Fall like then to bundle up and bake yummy good pumpkiny (that is my new word) treats? So when I was at Trader Joe's last week and  I saw a box of the pumpkin bread you know I picked up the regular one and the gluten free.

This weekend Mason and I baked them together. I threw in a few extras though when he turned his head and was not looking. Freaking hard to do when baking with a five year old.

So this my friends is a recipe for Pumpkin Apple Zucchini Carrot Bread or in our case muffins.

It's About To Get Real

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. I am so excited to have you joining me for this brand new chapter in my blogging life. If you are just stumbling upon me now and you did not follow me over from my former blog, then let me introduce myself.

I am Hope Brissette formally the owner of Hopes's Beauty Bar. I created that site way back in 2012 when I knew
absolutely nothing about computers or building a blog. I learned so much by just jumping in and playing around with all the behind the scenes details that it takes to build a working, fun, creative blog.

Hope's Beauty Bar was all about beauty. I am a professional makeup artist, so it just seemed natural that I would center my blog around what I know.

It didn't take long though for me to start to feel trapped and boxed in. I lost all my creativity for months at a time.

I had so much going on with my life as new mother and homemaker that I felt that I couldn't share on my beauty page. I really tired to maintain the blog but inspiration was few and far between.

I still had lots of people visiting my blog daily, even though I was not posting new content.

This is unfair to my followers.  I also felt in a way in was unfair to write on a beauty blog about having anxiety and deppression and still trying to be a mother, wife, makeup artist and blogger.

I still love beauty especially homemade skin care and you will definitely be getting a good dose of that here.

This brings me to what this blog is going to be about. Simply put it is going to be about my life. I am a mom, homemaker and makeup artist who has delt with PTS, Depression
and Anxiety my whole entire life. It is a part of me and I hope to share that part a lot here. Along with all sorts of other topics.

I am a honest, slightly crazy ( in a good way) extremest.  I will from time to time swear and I am apologizing in advance. If you want to talk about real things with honesty and humour than this is going to be the place for you.

Here is a short list of topics I plan to talk about.

Being A First Time Mom

Anxiety, Depression, PTS (we are going to get real and raw)

My Mother The Astrologer (she is crazy accurate)

Gluten Free Vegetarian Recipes

Homemade Skin Care

Homemade Cleaners

Book Reviews (possible book club???)

Vacations (cruise to Mexican Rivera already booked, come along with us)

Makeup Looks For Real People (client before and afters)

Struggling With Weight Loss

And so much more.

Welcome to my life. My Real Life! Full of ups and downs. You will find real topics with struggle, sadness, hope and triumph, always with humour mixed in. In order to live you must Laugh!!!!

I hope that this place will inspire and encourage not just you but myself as well. We all have a story and this is mine. I am so excited for you to all join me on this adventure.

If you are still here after reading all the craziness above then Sign Up for email alerts so you never miss a post.  The sign up is on the left hand side of this page.

You can also email me and I will respond to any questions you might have.

Thank you so much if you are coming over from Hope's Beauty Bar. You will be seeing a whole new side of me. I side that I thought I had to hide.

I will be reposting some of my most popular posts on this site over time. You will not be able to access that site after the middle of October, so if you loved a post from that blog comment below with the post title and I will make sure to reshare on this site.

Much Love,  Hope XOXOXOXOXO
